Kolkata Police Law Institute (KPLI) since its inception on 19 August, 2016, inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, has been aiming to grow as a Centre of Excellence in its field emphasizing on ‘Advancement of Legal Learning’ under the able chairmanship of Shri Rajeev Kumar IPS, Commissioner of Police, Kolkata, with its director Shri Champak Bhattacharyya in the rank of Joint Commissioner of Police, Kolkata. This self-financed academic institute is affiliated to the University of Calcutta and approved by the Bar Council of India. Its principal objective is to create a cavalry of lawyers and legal experts of the best quality and simultaneously with the virtues of responsible citizens.
Kolkata Police Law Institute is one of its kind in the country, as it offers quality legal education in terms of 5-Year BA LLB course after 10+2, primarily for the wards of serving and retired personnel of both Kolkata Police and West Bengal Police, 3-Year LLB course exclusively for in-service police personnel of Kolkata Police, West Bengal Police and other government organizations. It is happy to note that 2-Year LLM course, affiliated to the University of Calcutta has been introduced at KPLI preferably for in-service personnel of Kolkata and West Bengal Police.
The library at Kolkata Police Law Institute is a fabulous storehouse of collections which deserve appreciation of scholars, researchers, students and others. All the updated technical innovations and devices including Koha Library Management System, Manupatra software and others have been installed to facilitate the studies of the students, researchers and scholars.
